In this study, in order to compare the differences in first-year education and the university's approach to first-year students in Japan and the United States, we asked 10 students belonging to science and technology research universities (five each in Japan and the United States) to conduct the same research. Using the questionnaire, we interviewed each of them about their experiences in their first year at university. When compared by country, the number of extracurricular activities experienced by American students was higher than that of Japanese students.
