In order to investigate the mechanism of low wear of the UHMWPE (ultra high molecular weight poly ethylene) implant grafted by MPC (2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) polymer, the experiment was conducted. In the experiment, MPC polymer was grafted to an UHMWPE plate by using a 100 W high pressure mercury lamp. The contact angle analysis and XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy) analysis before grafting and after grafting on the UHMWPE plate was conducted.
