Maximum displacement from acceleration integration is often smaller than
its true. This paper presents an approach for correcting the maximum representative
displacement of a steel structure obtained from floor acceleration data by fusing with the
low-frequency displacement component estimated from equivalent SDOF analysis.
Nonlinear time history analysis of a 5-story steel structure under various earthquake records
were conducted for validation. The results show that the maximum displacement errors
were reduced remarkably, especially for cases with large nonlinear deformation.
